The global response to COVID-19 pandemic has led to an unprecedented level of resources mobilized for research and the development of vaccines in record time. However, this success has limitations, as no therapies and antivirals have proven effective against the new virus and vaccine campaigns are facing global inequalities. Today more than ever, it is time to adopt a holistic approach to tackle this pandemic, covering biological, clinical, environmental and social issues.

The CaixaResearch Conference, 'Overcoming pandemics after COVID-19" (Nov 16-17, 2021) on behalf of “la Caixa” Foundation, will foster discussion around available tools, current vaccines technologies and logistics to fight the current pandemic and other emerging infections, with the aim of improving preparedness and evidence-based decision-making.

The conference sessions will focus on 4 main topics:

• Developing diagnostics and therapeutics
• Developing vaccines
• Zoonoses and One Health
• Transforming public health

It is a free event aimed at researchers at all stages of their scientific career, clinicians, industry, policymakers, scientific journalists and engaged citizens.

This CaixaResearch Conference is promoted by "la Caixa" Foundation, lead by a Scientific Committee by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Center, centers funded by “la Caixa” Foundation, and co-organized with Biocat.
