Luis Molinos

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Luis M Molinos-Albert is a B-cell immunologist with an expertise on molecular aspects of the antibody response to pathogens, primarily HIV-1, SARS-CoV-2, malaria and hepatitis viruses. Over the last ten years, he has been working on human B-cell antibody responses, exploring the B-cell dynamics in health and disease to understand how protective antibodies are generated. He is currently a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the Malaria Immunology group, where he is applying his expertise into the molecular characterization of the memory B-cell antibody response to the RTS,S malaria vaccine in African children recipients. To this aim he has established and optimized the tools for antigen-specific B-cell isolation and molecular cloning of monoclonal antibodies. He also coordinates longitudinal studies focused on the memory B-cell antibody response to SARS-CoV-2  in large cohorts of healthcare workers. Finally, he set up and currently coordinates a full pipeline for recombinant protein production in eukaryotic cell lines, which provides antigenic supply to the different studies of the group as well as to the Core Facility on Immune Response and Biomarkers.
