Pía Alberione holds a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Córdoba in Argentina and a Master’s degree in Infection Biology from the Hannover Medical School in Germany.

She is currently working on her PhD funded by the FI scholarship granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European Social Fund. Her thesis project is carried out within the Glycobiology group under the supervision of Luis Izquierdo. Her research focuses on studying the aminosugar pathway in Plasmodium falciparum, which may offer unprecedented opportunities for the design of antiparasitic drugs.
