Silvia Ruíz

Técnica de laboratorio

During her undergraduate studies, she gained valuable lab experience in Pablo Engel's group at the University of Barcelona. For her bachelor’s thesis, she worked in Olaf Gross’s lab at the University of Freiburg, focusing on the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in dendritic cells following Candida albicans infection.

In 2024, Sílvia completed her Master’s in Advanced Immunology, a joint program by the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. For her master’s thesis, she worked in the Malaria Immunology Group at ISGlobal, under the supervision of Carlota Dobaño and Gemma Moncunill. There, she performed binding assays between SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and Fc-gamma receptors, and conducted IgG subclass detection using Luminex technology.

Currently, Sílvia holds the position of Laboratory Technician 2D in the Malaria Immunology Group at ISGlobal. She is continuing her research on antibody profiling, expanding her master’s work on SARS-CoV-2 to include studies on malaria and helminthiasis.
