Joanna Ehrlich is the project manager for the Tuberculosis Research Group at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal). She earned her bachelor’s degree in public health from Winona State University, and obtained a Master’s degree in Global Health from the University of Barcelona where she developed a strong interest in tuberculosis research. She currently supports the implementation of several TB research projects including Stool4TB, TB QUEST, and the Global TB Dictionary.

Joanna has more than a decade of experience working in over 20 countries for governmental and non-governmental organizations, cultivating her passion for global health through various projects related to infectious disease epidemiology and increasing access to medical and surgical care. Before joining ISGlobal, she served as an epidemiologist in tuberculosis and COVID-19 in the United States where she was recognized with the Award of Excellence from the Commissioner of Health for her outstanding contributions to the COVID-19 pandemic response.  In light of her promising research trajectory, she was also recently awarded a Fulbright scholarship from the US Department of State to conduct TB research in Mozambique.

Her current research interests include the study of TB in high-risk populations including children and PLHIV, asymptomatic TB, and TB transmission dynamics.
