Arturo Martínez Trejo is a predoctoral student at the University of Barcelona from 2022 to date. He obtained his degree in Bacteriological and Parasitological Chemistry from the National School of Biological Sciences of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico in 2018. He holds a Master of Science in Biomedicine and Molecular Biotechnology from the same university and graduated in 2022.

He has focused his studies and work in the field of clinical microbiology. His current PhD project focuses on the development and implementation of diagnostic techniques, mainly molecular techniques. He has published in peer-reviewed journals in the field of microbiology. He has also presented his work in Spanish and international congresses.

His doctoral thesis focuses on the implementation and development of diagnostic techniques to develop a rapid, reliable and accessible diagnostic tool based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification of nucleic acids (LAMP) and the standardisation and implementation of a molecular technique based on digital PCR (dPCR) for the early detection of pathogens. His doctoral research is being supervised by Dr Jordi Vila Estape, Professor at the University of Barcelona, and Dra. Andrea Vergara Gómez, both from the University of Barcelona and the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, Spain.
