Predoctoral Fellow

Inocência Augusto Cuamba has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. She also has a Master’s degree in Medicine in the field of Vaccinolgy from the University of Witwatersrand and is currently enrolled in a PhD programme in Medicine and Translational Health at Universitat de Barcelona.

Inocência started her professional journey at Centro de Investigação em Saúde de Manhiça (CISM) where she started as an intern. She was then employed at CISM as a laboratory technologist and later on as a project manager. During her period of work at CISM she participated in different projects on infectious diseases such as malaria, HIV, tuberculosis and neglected diseases (specifically, geohelminths, protozoa and Schistosoma) executing various tasks such as study management and laboratory sample processing (isolation and cryopreservation of cells, detection of antigens and antibodies by immunoenzymatic assays, flow cytometry and detection of parasites by real-time PCR).

Currently she is a CISM Training Fellow and an ISGlobal Predoctoral Fellow working on a study that intends to look at the possible immune deviation caused by concomitant infection with malaria, soil transmitted helminths and protozoa.
