Natalie Mueller

Assistant Research Professor Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health | Environment and Health over the Lifecourse

Natalie holds a BSc in Public Health (Maastricht University, Netherlands), a MSc in Epidemiology (Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, Germany) and a PhD in Biomedicine (Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, Spain).

She is an environmental epidemiologist with strong expertise in health impact assessment (HIA) methodologies. She has led and conducted various HIA studies, studying different counterfactual scenarios aimed at sustaining and improving health in cities, through changes in urban form, e.g. superblocks, green spaces, etc. (see Mueller et al. 2017a, 2017b, 2020), or transport systems, e.g. promotion of walking and cycling for transport, impacts of electric micromobility, etc. (see Mueller et al. 2015, 2018, 2021b forthcoming), combining comparative risk assessment with other novel modelling approaches.

Furthermore, her interests include putting evidence into practice, engaging with stakeholders to provide advice and technical support on the integration of health considerations in urban developments (see Mueller et al. 2021a).
