Our Team

Carla graduated in Biotechnology in 2021 from the Universitat de Vic and completed a master’s degree in Omics Data Analysis in 2022 at the same institution. During her studies, she interned with her current research group, which marked the start of her professional journey.

Her professional experience includes collaboration with a research group focused on genomic data analysis of vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC). Using tools like maftools in R Studio, she identified mutations to distinguish between HPV-associated and HPV-independent tumors.

Currently, Carla is a member of the Malaria Immunology Group, where she specializes in bioinformatics data analysis for malaria research. Her work centers on controlled human malaria infection (CHMI) studies, employing R Studio for RNA sequencing, microarrays, antibody responses and cytokine data analysis.

In addition to her analytical work, Carla is now developing automated pipelines for sequence analysis. She uses Python to create workflows that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of identifying and classifying immunoglobulin sequences, making use of tools such as IgBlast.
