Emma Bloch

Laboratory Technician

Emma Bloch holds a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences and a Master’s degree in Health Biology - Biotechnology from the University of Montpellier, France. During her Master’s studies, she completed an internship at the Proteolysis Lab of the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona, where she focused on the expression, purification, and crystallization of the flagellinolysin peptidase domain from Pseudomonas otitidis, a bacterium associated with ear infections.

She joined the Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Analytics group at the Pasteur Institute of Paris for her second-year Master’s internship. There, she focused on the development of a SARS-CoV-2 surrogate neutralization assay based on ACE2-RBD binding inhibition, expanding her expertise in serology and immunology. Subsequently, she worked as a research engineer within the same team, where she developed a multiplex serological assay to evaluate antibody levels against vaccine-preventable diseases and common viral infections.

In 2024, she returned to Barcelona and joined the Malaria Immunology group as a laboratory technician. Her work focuses on investigating the memory B cell antibody response in African children vaccinated with RTS,S/AS01E.
