Georgios Koutsoudakis

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Georgios Koutsoudakis is a biomedical researcher with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, virology and immunology acquired in 3 different countries (Germany, Italy and Spain). His scientific portfolio includes 33 scientific articles and 20 non- and competitive scientific projects (team member). During 2015-2020, his work was focused on the immunopathology caused by chronic viral hepatitis infections, and specifically on understanding mechanisms of perturbations and restoration of immune system homeostasis during and after antiviral treatments.

Of note, during the last 2.5 years, his research focused on delineating the immunopathology of patients with autoimmune hepatitis (Co-PI of the research project FIS PI021/0800). Within this grant, we has included strategies in order to analyze at a single cell resolution level the T cell repertoire infiltrated in liver biopsies of patients diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis. Dr. Georgios Koutsoudakis is joining the Malaria Immunology group under the supervision of Prof. Carlota Dobaño and Dr. Gemma Moncunill, as a senior T cell post-doc immunologist.

His future research will include analyses of i) T cell profiling in PBMCs acquired from COVID-19 cohorts and ii) T cell repertoires in malaria and helminth endemic and vaccinated populations.
