Leire is a dedicated Research Assistant with a strong academic background and a focus on advancing public health. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of the Basque Country and a Master's degree in Public Health from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona.
At ISGlobal's Public Health Liver Group, Leire contributes to the global MASLD/MASH "Best Buys" study, which identifies cost-effective interventions for policymakers to combat this growing public health challenge. She also supports field interventions as a research nurse for VH-COMSAVAC, a project that aims to scale up and adapt a community-based model of care for hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) testing and linkage to care and HBV vaccination among migrant and refugees from intermediate and high prevalence countries.
With a commitment to equitable liver health solutions, Leire is working to make an impact through her research and public health endeavours. In 2025, she will participate in key events such as the EASL SLD Summit and the United Nations General Assembly MASH side-event, furthering her knowledge and contributing to global discussions to tackle these issues.
