Our Team

Guillermo Villanueva graduated from the Interdisciplinary Higher Education Center (CFIS) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He obtained a BSc in Mathematics and a BEng in Engineering Physics. In addition, he holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics from UPC. Guillermo’s interests primarily lie in the fields of data science and optimization, machine learning and deep learning, with a particular focus on their applications in the field of biomedicine.

He has research experience in computational neuroscience as a visiting student at the Mathematical Biology and Computational Neuroscience group at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he successfully completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s theses. Moreover, he has acquired working experience as an Operations Research Analyst at Paack where he deployed mathematical optimization methods on network design projects supporting expansion decisions.

Presently, he serves as a Data ScienceTechnician at the Biomedical Data Science group, where he is responsible for developing machine learning models and computer vision applications to provide technical support for biomedical research projects.
