Joan Puigdollers holds a Diploma in Health (Departmental School of Barcelona), a Diploma in Environmental Engineering (Catalan Institute of Technology), and he is Licensed in Sciences, Biology, and Botanical (Autonomous University of Barcelona).

Nowadays he is Manager of the Metropolitan Area Sanitary Region of Barcelona, Secretary of Public Health of the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya, President of the Governing Council of the PSMAR (Parc Salut MAR).

He is member of the Board of Directors of: Public Health Agency of Barcelona; TERSA (Tratamiento y Selección de Residuos, SA); Cememtiris de Barcelona, SA; ATLL (Aigües Ter-Llobregat); EMSSA (Empresa Metropolitana de Sanejament, SA) Board of Waste and Sanitation; Servicios Funerarios de Barcelona, SA; PAMEM (Institute of Medical Assistance Services for Municipal Staff); and Catalan Health Service. President of the Municipal Council of Barcelona.

Besides he is Councilor for the Environment and Urban Services of the City Council of Barcelona, Councilor of the District of Sarrià- Sant Gervasi, President of the municipal companies: PATSA (Tibidabo Amusement Park, S.A): TERSA (Treatment and Selection of Residues, SA), Cementiris de Barcelona, SA, and BCASA (Barcelona Cicle de l'Aigua, SA), President of the Urban Ecology Agency of Barcelona, President of the local Energy Agency of Barcelona, Provincial Deputy of the Diputació de Barcelona.
