WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is seeking a Research Technician who is interested in taking over and managing activities within the Malaria Elimination Initiative and the Implementation Science Hub. The position will involve preparation of new grant opportunities, writing of scientific protocols and publications, stakeholder engagement, data cleaning and analysis and writing of reports and research findings.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree in global health/public health/tropical medicine or related topics
- Demonstrated expertise in the following:

  • Running large implementation research studies at community level engaging multiple participants and stakeholders in low to middle income countries
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary research teams including epidemiologists, economist, social scientists, statisticians, implementation scientists, field workers, clinicians, etc.
  • Designing and analyzing mixed-methods approaches in research to evaluate the operational performance of different interventions 
  • Analyzing routine data (experience in DHIS2 databases is an asset) to evaluate the clinical impact of the piloted interventions
  • Using satellite-imagery maps to support implementation of interventions in the field
  • Epidemiology research and implementation science studies, data collection, data cleaning and data analysis 
  • Report and manuscript writing

- Experience working in diverse low-resource settings with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, including close links with national health authorities
- Knowledge of malaria or other infectious diseases will be valued

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the principal investigator and research team to design, plan, and execute implementation science research projects, including writing of the grant proposal, research protocol, etc., as well as the preparation of all documentation needed for the communication and submission to ethical authorities; 
  • Write the technical reports for the funding body
  • Conduct systematic reviews and be aware of the state-of-the-art knowledge and incorporate relevant findings into their own research. 
  • Ensure timely and quality performance of activities related to the project milestones, with the support of the main stakeholders and the rest of the technical team.
  • Perform data management and analysis of the data related with the operational performance of the interventions delivered in programmatic mode following a mixed-methods approach.
  • Prepare and submit research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals

LANGUAGE LEVEL

  • Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of Portuguese will be valued.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
