The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. What We Are Looking for

ISGlobal is seeking a postdoctoral researcher who is interested in being part of the Barcelona Life Study Cohort (BiSC, https://projectebisc.org/en/home/) project, that aims to investigate the relationship between in utero exposure to air pollutants and neurodevelopment, and the underlying molecular mechanisms.
The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the analysis between placental epigenome (including DNA methylation and miRNAs) and neurodevelopmental outcomes at 18 months of age. Basically, the candidate will be involved in the interpretation of findings and writing of the manuscript.
 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD on molecular biology in the field of environmental epidemiology and neuroscience.
     

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Prior knowledge on:

  • Molecular biology
  • Neuroscience
  • HPC environment and R

Prior experience in the analysis of:

  • Air pollution exposure data 
  • Next generation sequencing data (small non-coding RNAs)
  • DNA methylation data (EPIC array)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities of the postdoctoral researcher will be:

  • Interpret findings of the placental EWAS of neurodevelopmental outcomes and perform downstream in silico functional analyses.
  • Write the corresponding scientific article.

  • Spanish is not mandatory, but will be positively evaluated.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
