The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal and the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona are looking for a candidate research physician specializing in internal medicine or family medicine. The candidate will be part of the clinical team working at the International Health Department in the Hospital Clinic and work nationally and internationally on the diagnosis and management of travel-related diseases. In particular, the candidate will be providing support to telemedicine consultations for international travellers in the context of the Famba project, during 6 months.

Responsibilities include managing the digital platform, remote monitoring of international travellers during travel, telemedicine support, and communication with the other team members to fulfil the objectives of the study. The candidate will also participate in other research study and discussions related to the field of travel medicine.
 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Remote monitoring and telemedicine for international travellers through Famba
  • Daily control of sick and healthy travellers in the platform
  • Lead the activities ensuring all study procedures are of good quality and are carried out per good clinical practices, with an emphasis on the clinical management of patients under their supervision. 
  • Contribute to study analysis and improvements of the platform for future versions.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Medical Doctor with specialization in internal medicine or family medicine.
  • Experience and knowledge on issues related to Global Health and travel medicine. 
  • Additional profiles will be considered if highly motivated researchers in other related disciplines.

Desirable: 

  • Previous experience conducting clinical research. 
  • Record of obtaining research funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals

  • Fluent in English
  • Spanish proficiency
     

CONDITIONS

  • The position is for a period of 8 months (renewable). The conditions will be agreed according to training and experience.
  • Approximate start-date in September 2024.
  • Contract: (part or full time):  40h /week
  • Salary Range: Medical Research Fellow D

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
