WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is looking for a PhD student with experience in epidemiological methods and proficiency in statistical and mathematical modelling implemented in particular within R software to help us supervise activities under a EDCTP3 project where several technological, laboratorial and clinical studies in LMIC settings will be implemented. 
 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Speciality in Biomedicine or similar 
  • Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
  • High level of English and preferably Portuguese and French.
  • Expertise in epidemiological studies, 
  • Expertise in statistical analysis of study results
  • Knowledge of field implementation activities in low and middle countries environment.
     

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Support the development of studies with the preparation of protocols, design, collection of data and data analysis:
     

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Contribute to the following objectives of the study:

  • To determine the prognostic performance of the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) of X-trem device for the triage and risk-stratification of (all-cause) sick newborns in hospitals of four Sub-Saharan African countries.
  • To compare sTREM-1 with a wide range of biomarkers and prognostic algorithms to further demonstrate the competitive advantage of our device, while opening new avenues of innovation in neonatal care.

CONDITIONS

  • Duration: 3 years (36 months)

  • Contract: Full-time
  • Salary Range: predoc B (24.933€ gross annual)

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
