Objective: Improving Child Health in Africa

On the occasion of the Day of the African Child (June 16), we highlight five of the child health research projects we carry out in Africa: ICARIA, MULTIPLY, MAMAH, RESPIRE and MA-CoV.

Clara Menéndez, director of ISGlobal's Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health Initiative and Programme, advocates not treating maternal health and child health separately, as they are closely linked, especially in the first months of the newborn's life. "We still have burdens of child mortality that are not ethically bearable, especially when the causes are preventable and treatable with affordable tools," she says.
