Policy & Global Development

Govern, Innovate, Progress

Five ways in which the G20 can drive global growth. Document drawn up by Intermón Oxfam and ISGlobal on the occasion of the G20 Summit in Mexico on 18-19 June 2012.

This year's G20 Summit was dominated by the crisis in the Eurozone and failed to address important social issues such as growing inequality, environmental degradation, the global food crisis, and the fight against neglected diseases.

Intermón Oxfam and ISGlobal stress the importance of political will in the establishment of a global development agenda involving all layers of society, including the poor, to achieve more inclusive economic growth and create a safer, more stable world. Financial measures that fail to address issues such as inequality and the fundamental rights of the most vulnerable members of society will not contribute to driving global growth.
