The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is seeking two highly motivated technicians for a part-time, temporary engagement in the EC funded RESONATE project RESONATE (“Building individual and community RESilience thrOugh NATurE-based therapies”). The successful candidates will be exposed to a network of Europe’s most prominent researchers in the field of associations between nature and human health. The candidate should have a genuine interest in the topic of Nature based Therapies (NbT) and have an interdisciplinary mindset. 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Support fieldwork and assist data collection: physiological and anthropometric measurements, saliva samples, validated questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The work will be conducted as a team with at least one senior researcher who will supervise and guide the work.
  • Assist nature-based walking therapy sessions in urban coastal settings in Barcelona and/or metropolitan area. The work will be conducted with a mindfulness professional who will train the candidate in mindful walking sessions.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Assist with a number of tasks related to fieldwork of a case study of an NbT in an urban coastal setting, including, for example:

  • Work closely with supervisor and team leader
  • Contact health care centres and assist with recruitment
  • Assist with data collection, and storage
  • Assist the NbT sessions with the intervention group as observer and note-taking
  • Deliver the NbT sessions to the control group
  • Management and maintenance of measurement instruments and related fieldwork material (e.g., heart rate bands)
  • The candidate should have flexibility in the schedule to adapt to the schedule of the study requirements.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3rd or 4th year of a high degree in health sciences (e.g. nursing, medicine), biology, psychology, social work, or similar.
  • A Bachelor or master degree in a relevant related field will be an asset

CONDITIONS

  • Duration: 8 months      
  • Starting date: Middle September 2024
  • Contract: Part-time (6-8h a week)

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
