Joren Buekers

Investigador postdoctoral Medi ambient i salut al llarg de la vida

Joren Buekers pursued a PhD in Bioscience Engineering at the University of Leuven (Belgium), which focused on time series analyses of physiological variables in two main application areas: wearable devices and exercise physiology.

His following project, based on an European Respiratory Society (ERS) Long-Term Research Fellowship, combined these two application areas by translating heart rate data collected with wearable devices into interpretable and clinically relevant biomarkers.

Currently, he employs digital health methodologies to improve our understanding of mobility impairment during activities of daily living in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

He is passionate about bridging the gap between medicine and engineering, with a special fondness for digital health, wearable devices and time series analyses in the field of respiratory medicine.
