The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in the following main areas, infectious diseases including malaria, maternal, child and reproductive health, urban health and xhild and environmental health, climate & non-communicable diseases. ISGlobal is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized programme manager to join the Public Health Liver Group. The programme manager will assist the Principal Investigator and lead in the coordination of international consortiums of EU-funded projects led by the group and coordinating work packages on the group’s research on policy and public health responses, specifically the Meta Trial. The candidate will be engaged in research projects and clinical trials focused on metabolic disease prevention, as well as policy and public health responses to liver diseases such as metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (formerly NAFLD), metabolic-dysfunction steatohepatitis (formerly NASH) and viral hepatitis. 

In addition, the programme manager will lead in communication management and oversee the development of dissemination of the project activities and the knowledge translation of scientific results to a broader audience. 

The position will be partially funded by the project “Preventing and delaying the development of diabetes in africa: a randomised placebo -controlled double-blind phase iii trial of metformin in hiv-infected persons with pre-diabetes” that has received funding from the Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking, under GA No 101145764 - The META-TRIAL.
 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in public health, global health or related field (master’s level or higher)
  • Experience in international project coordination and clinical trials
  • Experience in managing EU project grants
  • Budget management
  • Familiarity with scientific research projects, especially those involving infectious diseases and vulnerable populations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to working with diverse and vulnerable populations.
     

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in health sciences, public health, or global health
  • Training in research methods
  • Comfortable in an international and multicultural environment
  • Willing to learn and grow while facing challenges as a learning opportunity 
  • Strong English-language skills (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Catalan desirable

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Manage the Meta trial consortium and project activities
  • Assist in the day-to-day coordination of the teams’ projects
  • Work closely with project partners and stakeholders to ensure the timely and successful implementation of the project activities
  • Track project timelines and deliverables to ensure compliance with grant requirements
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy for the project, ensuring effective dissemination of research findings.
  • Collaborate with researchers, community partners, and stakeholders to facilitate communication and information sharing.
  • Oversee the preparation of written materials, including reports, newsletters, and press releases, to highlight project achievements and outcomes.

SKILLS

  • Strong written communication skills;
  • Project management skills and deadline-driven;
  • Ability to accurately describe other researchers’ findings and to cite information using standard referencing conventions;
  • Ability to use PubMed/Medline and other major databases to conduct literature searches;
  • Proficiency in Word, PPT, and Excel (desirable: illustration, or design experience);
  • Desirable: active on social media (eg LinkedIn and Twitter).

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
