The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in the following main areas, Malaria and other Infectious Diseases, Maternal, Child and reproductive Health, Urban Health and Child and environmental health, Climate & Non-Communicable Diseases. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for a Medical research Fellow with the following requirements:
- Medical doctor (clinician) with specialty in pediatrics (completed).
- Demonstrated training in Tropical Medicine and International Health and infectious diseases.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting large multi-centric epidemiologic research and clinical trials, preferably in Global Health related topics.
- Availability to travel to LMICs for periods of time.
- Skills in epidemiological research.
- Experience in development and management of research projects.
- Interest on strategies to reduce child mortality, developing diagnostic and preventive interventions, particularly with a global perspective.
- Interest (and skills) on genomic disease burden assessment, and the impact of genetic and congenital diseases in paediatric population.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Speciality in Medicine and Pediatrics.
- Experience in Global Health and Clinical Epidemiology research.
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English, Portuguese, and French.
- Expertise in project design, team coordination, and supervision.
- Expertise in field implementation activities in low and middle countries environment. Expertise in statistical analysis of study results.
- Scientific writing skills.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Doctor, Paediatrician.
- Expertise in infectious diseases, clinical epidemiology, and research in Global Health projects.
- Interest in clinical genomics and congenital assessment.
- Scientific writing experience.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
- To contribute in the design, execution and analysis of a variety of the CHAMPS project related activities: participation in clinical panels for ascertainment causes of death, clinical extraction, clinical genomic consulting, proposal and protocol development, statistical analysis, manuscript and scientific article writing, science dissemination in international forums.
- To support implementation and supervise activities of CHAMPS Project in Mozambique.
- To apply proactively for funding opportunities (fellowships and projects).
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Participate, supervise and conduct CHAMPS clinical activities related to Mozambique site.
- Coordinate, perform consulting and assessment on genomic and congenital diseases assessment related to CHAMPS project internationally.
- Participate on scientific writing activities for articles, proposals and protocols.

CONDITIONS

- Salary Range: 37.400€ gross annual

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
