The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are recruiting an enthusiastic, self-motivated post-doctoral researcher with experience in climate change and health to join our dynamic team within the ISGlobal Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health research programme and the international Lancet Countdown in Europe collaboration. 

The Lancet Countdown in Europe was established as a research collaboration in 2021 to monitor health and climate change in the region. Building on the work of the global Lancet Countdown and other regions, it leverages the wealth of data and cross disciplinary expertise in Europe, to develop high-resolution Europe-specific indicators that explore aspects at the intersection of climate change and human health relevant to the region. Indicator areas within the Lancet Countdown in Europe cover the health impacts of climate change, adaptation, mitigation, economics and finance, and public and political engagement. 

The researcher will be responsible for leading publications within the Lancet Countdown in Europe collaboration, coordinating indicator development across the collaboration, and contributing to the development of strategic partnerships and communications.  

The researcher will be based in the research group of Research Professor Cathryn Tonne, co-Director of the Lancet Countdown in Europe, and will have the opportunity to work closely with other fellows across the international Lancet Countdown collaboration.  
 

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in epidemiology, environmental health, economics or related discipline 
  • Demonstrated record of scientific or professional achievement relevant to climate change and health. 
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data management in R 
  • Motivated, self-directed researcher capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs 
  • Strong organization and team-working skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken) 

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Primary responsibilities include leading publications within the Lancet Countdown in Europe; coordinating indicator development across the collaboration; and managing indicator data.
  • Additional responsibility include contributing to strategic planning; and maximizing the impact of the Lancet Countdown in Europe by coordinating partnerships and contributing to communications and report launch events.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
