The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a competitive candidate to apply to the upcoming Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral call. We offer a project on chemical contaminants in drinking water, infant health, and climate variability at the Water Pollution and Health Team. The candidate will conduct literature review, analyse data, lead publications, attend and present in seminars, and participate in other scientific activities in ISGlobal.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
PhD in environmental epidemiology. Experience in:
- Exposure science
- Environmental epidemiology
- Chemistry
- Computer science
- Statistics
- Public Health
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
The eligibility criteria of 2024 Juan de la Cierva call will be determined by the call that will be published in the coming weeks. We expect that the requirements will be similar to the past call:
a) Candidates of any nationality.
b) Request incorporation in a center other than the one in which they completed their pre-doctoral training. Compliance with this requirement will not be mandatory for candidates with disabilities.
c) Be in possession of a doctor's degree (PhD). In the case of being in possession of more than one doctoral degree, the requirements will refer to the first of the degrees obtained.
d) The date of obtaining a PhD: between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024*.
The date of obtaining the doctoral degree will be understood as the date of the defense and approval of the doctoral thesis. This period may apply an extension of the lower deadline if maternity / paternity leave, serious illness or accident and care for dependent people are justified.
For applicants with disabilities, the date must be between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2024.
e) Not having submitted a request to participate in the Ramón y Cajal 2024 fellowships.
f) Not having been a beneficiary of a grant from previous calls from Juan de la Cierva, Formación Posdoctoral, Juan de la Cierva-Formación o Juan de la Cierva- Incorporación. A beneficiary of these actions is understood to be the person included in any of the resolutions granting previous calls for said actions, regardless of whether or not they have been bequeathed to join the R&D Center.

Incompatibilities
a) The candidate can only submit one application.
b) The tutor can only be as such in a one application. The tutor will be directly responsible for the tutelage and orientation of the professional development of the candidate.
c) The labor contract is incompatible with any other employment contract by the fellow.

CONDITIONS
- Duration: 24 months

- Contract: Full time
- Salary Range: This will depend on the Juan de la Cierva call.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
